Construction Helpers 

• to assist our carpenters

Job Duties 

• Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas 

• Erect and dismantle wood forms, scaffolding, shoring and barricades required at construction sites 

• Assist carpenters in construction activities 

• Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment 

• Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed. 

 

  

Salary: $15-20/hour depending on experience 

Education  

• High school diploma 

 
 

Trade certification:  
 

Certain construction helper positions are regulated in Nova Scotia. Candidates not licensed in Nova Scotia must be willing to work towards certification. This occupation is regulated in NS and candidates will work under certified trades until they get to be certified themselves 

 
 

Languages 

• English and must have attained CLB-4 level in all bands 

 
 

Work experience 

• At least 1 year of proven experience 

 
 

Security and safety 

• Must be able to obtain police clearances 

 
 

Skills required 

• Cleaning and house/shop keeping 

• Mechanical installing and maintenance 

• Operating different types of equipment 

• Loading and unloading materials 

 
 

Personal suitability 

• Requires attention to details 

• Must be willing to undergo training in work areas that they are unfamiliar with 

• Team player
