We are currently looking for 3 energetic and efficient Farm Workers to join our team. This is a permanent full time position reporting directly to the Farm Supervisor I Owner.

Job Summary:

The Farm Worker is responsible for transplanting, weeding, harvesting, preparation of produce for market. The farm work varies from week to week work, and is suited to people who enjoy working outdoors, are comfortable spending many hours bending down or kneeling and getting their hands dirty, enjoy working with others as part of a team, can maintain a positive attitude under adverse conditions (heat, cold, rain, mud, mosquitoes), and are motivated by the belief that growing food organically is good work. Experience is an asset but not a requirement as we are happy to train people who have a positive attitude and are keen to learn new skills.

Job Description and Duties:

  • Plant, fertilize, cultivate, spray, irrigate and harvest crops
  • Field work, soil preparation, plowing, pruning,planting, weeding, cultivating, harvesting, washing and cleaning, tying sorting and grading, packing of the
  • field crops, fruits and vegetables
  • Monitor irrigation and the soil moisture as per crop requirements
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
  • Detect disease and health problems in crops
  • Examine produce for quality and prepare for market
  • Maintain or assist in the maintenance of facilities and farm infrastructure
  • Follow food safety and security procedures

Terms of Employment: Permanent Full Time, Long Term

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week

Wages: $19.00

Benefits Package:

  • Insurance from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board covered by employer
  • Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis

Location of Work: 1840 Townline Road,Abbotsford, BC V2V 6N1 Canada

Anticipated Start Date of Employment: As soon as possible

Education, Experience and Language Requirements:

  • No formal education requirements
  • Some basic farm knowledge preferred though training will be provided
  • Basic English communication skills

Equipment and Machinery Experience: Training will  be provided

Type of Crops: Vegetables, Fruits and Field crops

Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

  • Repetitive tasks
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye co-ordination
  • Combination of sitting, standing, walking, kneeling and bending
  • Standing for extended periods
  • Strength and agility are necessary for lifting heavy loads
  • Outdoors, Wet/Damp, Dusty, Rain/Shine, Hot/Cold Weather

  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Must be a team player, flexible, reliable and organized
  • Must be available for all hours of operations and shifts including overtime and weekend work as required
