Delivery Driver

A & B Tool Rentals is hiring for one permanent full-time team member who can thrive in a fast-paced working environment. The Delivery Driver position is well suited for someone that is outgoing, energetic, and enjoys being outside and active all year long. This role involves driving a pick-up truck and can move up to driving a 5-ton flat deck truck with roll offs in addition to pick-up trucks.

Responsibilities:

• Drive pick-up trucks and 5-ton flat deck trucks as required
• Safely and properly load, unload and move products and materials by hand or with basic material handling equipment
• Plan delivery travel schedules and service routes
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspection to ensure that the vehicle is up to standards to travel
• Complete relevant paperwork and documentation
• Keep records related to deliveries including vehicle mileage and fuel costs
• Provide excellent customer service to our customers during delivery and pick up
• Keeping truck clean and sanitized by conducting routine truck inspections
• When not driving, assisting in keeping the yard clean and organized, as well as participate in tool & equipment inspecting & servicing of rental returns
• Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor

 

Terms of Employment: Permanent Full Time, Long Term

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week

Wages:$22.00 per hour

Overtime: one and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations

Location of Work: 1331 Venables St., Vancouver, BC V5L 2G1

Anticipated Start Date of Employment: As soon as possible

The Ideal Candidate:

• Enjoys driving and have been doing so safely with no accidents for at least 5 years
• Enjoys working outside
• Can get along with everyone
• Has a ‘do what it takes’ attitude

 

Education, Experience and Language Requirements:

 

• Completion of secondary school is an asset
• Valid class 5 driver’s license and a clean driving record (Air Brakes Endorsement a bonus)
• One year of commercial driving experience
• Ability to effectively communicate in English

 

Additional Skills and Other Requirements:

• Acts in a professional, courteous and ethical manner
• Can lift and/or move up to 100 lbs
• Is organized and pays exceptional attention to details
• Familiarity with construction tools and equipment is an asset
• Some mechanical knowledge and ability to solve minor mechanical problems is an asset
• Has thorough knowledge of safe driving procedures and traffic laws
