Cook

Key Responsibilities

1. Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies, stock inventory appropriately.
2. Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces).
3. Cook menu items independently or in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff.
4. Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality, and in a timely fashion; ensure promptness, freshness, and quality of dishes.
5. Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
6. Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
7. Work closely with coworkers and the restaurant manager to ensure quality food service.
8. Participate in pre-shift meetings for kitchen personnel.

Qualifications & Skills

1. High school diploma/graduation is required.
2. Prior completion of college or other program in cooking or food safety is an asset.
3. Minimum 1 years of proven cooking experience, including experience as a Line Chef, Restaurant Cook,  Prep Cook or in other related positions.
4. Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures.
5. Strong detail orientation, ability to set priorities, multi-task and meet deadlines.
6. Ability to work on-call, shifts, after hours, over weekends, and on public holidays when required.
7. Must be able to work and remain focused in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
8. Fluent communication skills in English.

$15.50/hour, 30 to 40 hours per week
