Ethnic Hairstyling Specialist (2 Vacancies)

Completion of a two- or three-year hairstyling apprenticeship program or completion of a college or other program in hairstyling combined with on-the-job training is an asset.

Experience: 2 years of experience as a Hairstylist is required 
Experience as an Ethnic (Afro- Caribbean ) Hairstylist is an asset

Languages: Written and Spoken English is required

Duties: 
• Suggest hair style compatible with client's physical features or determine style from client's instructions 
and preferences on afro-caribbean clientele. 
• Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm and style afro-caribbean textured,kinky and curly hair 
• Skilled in breading cornrows, dreadlocks, weave extensions, full weave,full weave with closure, weave 
rows,fusion, clipped-in, tape-in, micro beads, euro-locs, i-tip, u-tip, wig cornrows 
• Skilled in a diverse range of hair care services for all hair types: Traditional Sew-ins, Frontal, Closures, 
and Wig Install services. 
• braids, twists, and cornrows,braiding, natural hair care for all hair types. 
• Do perms, U-tips micro beads 
• Apply bleach, tints, dyes or rinses to colour, frost or streak on afro-caribbean textured, kinky and curly 
hair 
• Analyze hair and scalp condition and provide basic treatment or advice on beauty care treatments for 
scalp and hair 
• Skilled in crochet Braids, faux Locs 
• Clean and style wigs and hair pieces 
• Skilled in keratin treatment, smoothing treatment 
• Apply hair extensions, 
• May shampoo and rinse hair 
• May perform receptionist duties and order supplies 
• May judge in competitions 
• May train or supervise other hairstylists, hairstylist apprentices and helpers. 
• Skilled in chemical treatments such as perms/jery curls,relaxer/straightening ,texturizer, afro transition
