Sewing Machine Operator

Job Duties-

• Take measurement of materials accurately so that it can fit the furniture piece perfectly
• Fix accessories such as buttons, zippers etc on finished products
• Clean sewing machines continously to avoid them getting rusty or bad
• Inspect production equipment, structures and production materials to identify the errors in machinery and goods to be produced
• Keep working environemnt clean and productive
• Understand and follow safety rules, directions and company procedures
• Operate single, double or multi needle serging, flat bed felling and other sewing machines to join sections of material into finished products to be fit on the furniture piece
• Operate stitching mahcines to sew leather and clothing materials
• Complete production reports including materials used, maintenance performed and number of pieces completed in the day and report to the reporting authority
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs on sewing machine
• Read and interpret work orders and adjust machines and materials to match, including selecting fabric, thread and needles, mounting necessary attachments and double checking settings before beginning the production process
• Inspect and repair finished products as needed and make machine adjustments to compensate for errors or quality issues
• Attach buttons, zippers or other accessories to sewn pieces as per order instruction and diagrams.
• Prepare material, secure hoops or clamps and make sure that all the procedural guidelines are being followed before starting the process

Experience Required - Experience an asset

Education Required - Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
