Retail Store Manager – Bakery Department

Located at 1350 Marine Drive, Grosvenor Ambleside, at Aburi Market, we offer authentic Japanese products and fresh culinary ideas that you can enjoy and recreate at home with simple ingredients from the award-winning restaurant team behind Miku & Minami. Through this new experience, we hope to introduce a new casual-style food scene featuring healthy and delicious Japanese-inspired products & meals.

Aburi Market is currently looking for a permanent, full-time Retail Store Manager at our Bakery Department to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan, direct and evaluate the operations of establishments engaged in retail sales of　bakery departments in Aburi Market
• Manage staff and assign duties
• Study market research and trends to determine consumer demand, potential sales volumes and effect of competitors' operations on sales
• Determine merchandise of bakery department to be sold, and implement price
• Source and negotiate with vendors when necessary
• Develop and implement marketing strategies
• Plan budgets, authorize expenditures, and monitor revenues
• Evaluate and improve customer service and respond to customer requests and issues
• Address staffing requirements, including the hiring, development and retention of staff

Education, skills and experience required:

• Completion of Secondary School
• A university degree or college diploma in business administration or other field related to the product or service being sold is an STRONG ASSET.
• Several years of experience as a retail store supervisor or a retail store manager in the related field or similar to the product being sold.
• Strong leadership, organizational and administrative skills
• Willingness to assist in wider responsibilities beyond store management including events and promotions
• Proficiency in Social Media (management and content)
• Ability to work well in a team

Language:

• Communication skills in English

Compensation and Benefit:

$32.00 - $45.00/hour (negotiable based on experience and qualifications), 4% vacation pay, Tips and Staff meals, Extended medical and dental after 3 months’ probation period
