Steel Stud Framer - Carpentry

Position details:

• Position type: Permanent employment, Full time & non-seasonal
• Work timing: Early morning, Evening, Morning, Night, Day
• Work hours: 40 hours per week
• Position start date: as soon as possible
• Work location: various construction sites in Metro Vancouver

Job duties:

• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
• Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
• Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings
• Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools
• Install door, window and other hardware
• Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress
• Install exterior and interior steel studs
• Install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath

Position requirements:

• Minimum education required: Secondary (high) school graduation
• Minimum 1 to 2 years work experience required
• Familiarity with Blueprint reading & interpretation
• Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment operation.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Good English language proficiency to communicate clearly with colleagues & supervisors.
