Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Cut, trim, and otherwise prepare standard cuts of meat and poultry for sale at self-serve or according to customer’s order.  
  • Manage inventory and determine the amount, product line, and freshness of products according to company and customer requirements.
  • Use knives, cleavers, meat saws, bandsaws, or other equipment to perform meat cutting and trimming.
  • Shape, lace, and tie meats, poultry, or goat and may wrap or package fresh or frozen, or prepared meats.
  • Grind meats and slice cooked meats using powered grinders and slicing machines as per requirement.
  • Adhere to food safety standards and ensure food storage conditions are adequate.
  • Ensure that the storage of meat is in a clean and healthy environment.
  • Weigh meats and tag containers for weights and contents.
