We are looking for a bookkeeper to work alongside our established Law Firm in Mississauga. Bookkeeper will be required to maintain complete sets of books and keep records of accounts, verifying procedures used for recording financial transactions within our Firm.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Keep financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems
  • Perform related clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing and photocopying.
  • Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, maintain general ledgers and prepare financial statements
  • Calculate and prepare cheques for payrolls and for utility, tax and other bills
  • Calculate costs of materials, overhead and other expenses based on estimates, quotations, and price lists
  • Complete and submit tax remittance forms, workers' compensation forms, pension contribution forms and other government documents
  • Prepare tax returns and perform other personal bookkeeping services
  • Prepare other statistical, financial and accounting reports

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • High School completion is required
  • Completion of College Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related field
    or
  • Completion of two years (first level) of a recognized professional accounting program (e.g., Chartered Accounting, Certified General Accounting)
  • CPA is a plus
  • Two years previous bookkeeping experience necessary
  • Courses in accounting or bookkeeping combined with several years of experience as a financial or accounting clerk preferred.
