Roofer Helper/Labourer (NOC 75110)

Wage:  $28.50 per hour (Full-time; 40 hours per week)

 Benefits:  Vacation pay (4%); Medical and Dental Insurance (50%) after 3 months’ probation

 Location of Work:  Various locations across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Province of Ontario

Job Description:

• Load and unload materials
• Sweep and clean roofs to prepare them for the application of new roofing materials
• Provide assistance to skilled roofers installing and repairing roofs, flashings, and surfaces
• Remove old roofing materials
• Prepare roofs for re-roofing or new roofing projects
• Setup ladders, scaffolds, and hoists in place for taking supplies to roofs
• Assist with the install, repair or replace of built-up roofing systems using materials such as hot asphalt, gravel and asphalt saturated felts

Work Site Environment: At Heights, Noisy, Dusty, Dangerous, Outdoors

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

Hand-eye co-ordination, physically demanding; Bending, crouching, kneeling, handling heavy loads; Large workload, Repetitive tasks, overtime required, work under pressure, fast-paced environment.

Area of specialization:

Conventional and inverted built-up system, modified roofing system, rigid pre-formed roofing system, single ply sheet membrane roofing system

Work Setting: Commercial, industrial

Job Requirements:

Ability to be trained, learn and develop practical skills

Capable of observing all health and safety codes
