Job requirements -

Languages: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience: Two years to less than 3 years

Work site environment: At heights, Confined spaces, Noisy, Dusty

Work setting: Construction, Various locations, Relocation costs covered by employer, Commercial, Residential

Specific skills: 

?  Interpreting building plans, drawings, and sketches to understand the project requirements
and to plan the layout and procedures.

? Measuring, marking, and arranging materials in accordance with local building codes and regulations. Using tools like saws, chisels, and planes to cut and shape wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.

?  Constructing the wooden frameworks for buildings, including walls, floors, and doorframes. This often involves using both hand and power tools to cut and assemble lumber and wood products.

?  Installing structures and fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using carpenter's tools and power tools.

? Repairing and replacing damaged frameworks, structures, and fixtures.

? Keeping a clean and orderly work area to maximize efficiency and safety.
