Terms of Employment: Contract, Full Time (40 hours/week)

Transportation/Travel Information: Public Transportation accessible; Willing to travel, willing to travel overnight; willing to travel cross border; travel expenses paid by employer

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide care and companionship for elderly especially during periods of incapacitation (i.e. chronic dizziness)

  • Administer bedside and personal care to elderly such as ambulation, bathing, personal hygiene, dressing and undressing

  • Perform routine health-related duties such as assisting in the administration of medications, collecting specimens as directed by family physician or nurse; taking blood pressure with digital blood pressure monitor

  • Responsible in maintaining medical appointments

  • Accompany the elderly to family physician and/or specialists 

  • Organize and perform light and safe exercises with the elderly (i.e. walking or stretching)

  • Read to elderly

  • Shop for food and household supplies for the elderly

  • Plan and prepare meals independently or with employer, serve meals to and feed elderly timely

  • Perform light housekeeping duties such laundry, washing dishes, cleaning and making beds

  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the house for the elderly

Essential Skills: Punctual, team player, reliable, good judgment, excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills, with initiative, dependable, organized; able to carry up to 23kg (50lbs)
