Job Summary
The Floor Installer will be responsible for measuring, cutting, preparing, and installing a variety of floor coverings and related materials at job sites in and around the GTA. Work tasks include preparing floors, calculating material needs, removing old floor coverings, and installing new flooring according to project specifications and safety standards. This role is essential to both new construction and renovation projects.
Duties and Responsibilities

Inspect, measure, and mark surfaces prior to installation

Prepare subfloors and job sites (cleaning, leveling, ensuring proper surface)

Measure, cut, and install various types of floor coverings (carpet, resilient flooring, hardwood, vinyl, tiles, etc.)

Remove old floor coverings, adhesives, contaminants, and debris

Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and layouts

Estimate materials required and report shortages

Communicate with supervisors and project teams regarding site progress

Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe, clean condition

Ensure quality workmanship and compliance with safety standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education & Experience

Secondary (high) school graduation or equivalent
-
Minimum 1 to less than 7 months of related experience in floor installation
Technical Skills
-
Ability to use measuring tools, saws, knives, floor cutters, and other installation equipment

Proficiency in installing a range of materials:

Vinyl / resilient tiles

Carpets and rugs

Hardwood flooring & parquet

Linoleum
-
Flexible PVC flooring

Cork flooring
-
Tile, terrazzo and marble

Carpet tiles and modular flooring

Physical & Work Environment

Must be physically fit, able to lift and move heavy materials

Frequent bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing

Work in dusty, construction environments

Ability to work on different job sites throughout the GTA
