Languages: English
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years
On site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities
Tasks
- Interpret prescriptions provided by optometrists or ophthalmologists to determine appropriate eyewear specifications
- Assist clients in selecting eyeglass frames and lenses based on prescription, facial features, and lifestyle needs
- Take precise measurements, including pupillary distance and segment height, using optical instruments
- Recommend suitable lens types, coatings, and treatments such as anti-reflective and UV protection
- Fit, adjust, and dispense eyeglasses and contact lenses to ensure proper vision correction and comfort
- Verify completed eyewear to ensure accuracy with prescribed specifications and quality standards
- Perform minor repairs and adjustments to frames, including tightening, reshaping, and replacing components
- Educate clients on the proper use, care, and maintenance of eyewear and contact lenses
- Maintain accurate client records, including prescriptions, measurements, and order details
- Coordinate with optical laboratories to process orders and ensure timely delivery
