Tasks
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and food products to various customer locations including restaurants, retirement homes, schools, golf courses, hospitals, and commercial establishments.
- Perform deliveries in downtown and congested urban areas, including accessing basement receiving areas and restricted delivery zones when required.
- Load, unload, manually handle, sort, and organize products inside the trailer and at customer locations, including the delivery of products to designated receiving, storage, and kitchen areas.
- Transport products using carts, dollies, and other material-handling equipment, and place goods in designated kitchen, storage, or receiving areas at customer sites.
- Stack and arrange delivered products according to customer and company requirements while ensuring product safety and proper handling procedures.
- Represent the company in a professional manner when interacting with customers, receiving staff, and key commercial accounts; communicate effectively, respond to delivery-related inquiries, and maintain positive client relationships while ensuring exceptional customer service standards.
- Inspect cargo and verify quantities against invoices, shipping documents, and delivery manifests.
- Complete delivery paperwork, maintain accurate records, obtain customer signatures, and submit required documentation in accordance with company procedures.
- Monitor and maintain refrigerated trailer temperatures throughout transportation and delivery, and record temperature logs as per company and food safety guidelines.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and refrigeration equipment to ensure compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
- Follow company policies, safety procedures, transportation regulations, and customer service standards at all times.
- Plan and follow assigned delivery routes efficiently, with regular deliveries to established customer locations.
- Communicate with dispatch and warehouse staff regarding delivery schedules, delays, or operational issues as required.
- Perform the delivery duties in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, ice, rain, and high temperatures, while following company safety procedures.
