We are currently looking for an Assistant Manager – Retail to join our team.

Job Summary:


We are seeking an Assistant Retail Manager to manage the linen department at our busy dry cleaning business. Our ideal candidate is someone with at least 3 years’ experience in a management role, sales background also an asset. As an Assistant Retail Manager you will be responsible for sales and meeting with vendors to negotiate and maintain strong business relationships while also monitoring day to day operations. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary as you will be interacting with vendors, employees and customers. You must have strong leadership skills and have the ability to create reports for upper management.

Job Description and Duties:



  •  Plan, organize, direct and evaluate the linen departmental operations of the store

  • Manage the multiple stores located in the Greater Vancouver area

  • Ensure prompt and timely service of pickup and delivery

  • Record and monitor laundry operation costs for the linen department

  • Manage and control inventory

  • Ensure that the business runs efficiently and safely

  • Meet and interact with various vendors

  • Check and reconcile sales reports, prepare and submit progress reports and other reports pertaining to the linen department to the Manager

  • Study market trends to determine and prioritize customer demand, potential sales volumes and effect of competitors' operations on sales

  • Develop and implement management policies and marketing strategies

  • Resolve problems that may arise like customer complaints, urgent work load or
    shortage of products for the multiple store locations in the Greater Vancouver area

  • Plan budgets, approve and control expenditures of the linen department

  • Process and authorize payments

  • Supervise, hire, train and coordinate staff in job duties, schedule and manage the shift systems

  • Other related duties as may be requested by the management


Terms of Employment: Permanent Full Time, Long Term


Hours of Work: 40 hours per week


Wages:  $27.74/hr


Overtime: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations


Benefits Package:



  • WorkSafeBC insurance covered by employer

  • 4% vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis


Location of Work: 44 West 4th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V5Y 1G3 Canada

Anticipated Start Date of Employment:  As soon as possible


Education, Experience and Language Requirements:



  • Completion of secondary school is required

  • At least three years of managerial experience is required

  • Good communication skills in English
