JOB DETAILS


Salary: $30.00 / hour for 40 hours / week

JOB REQUIREMENTS


Languages: English


 


Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years


Field of study: Food Science and Technology, Food Microbiology or other related studies


 


Experience: At least 1 year supervisory experience not necessarily related to food production but has to have the required education or at least 2 years of work experience in food production not necessarily in supervisory capacity but has to have the required education


 


Ability to Supervise: 11-15 people

Additional Skills: Train staff/workers in job duties, safety procedures and company policies, Recommend personnel actions such as hiring and promotions, Prepare production and other reports, Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies


 


Specific Skills: Recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality, Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule (and possibly review) activities of workers, Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other work units, Identify, evaluate, control and prevent hazards at all stages of the food production process


 


Other Specific Skills Required:



  • Provide oversight for the assistant supervisor and actively co-ordinate the activities of workers and equipment throughout the food packaging production process

  • Create team tasks and production work orders for all shift activities

  • Manage workflow and daily production line activities and issues; coordinate line changes for different production runs

  • Ensure that equipment is properly networked with the satellite offices such as printers, SKU/barcode scanners, and others

  • Assist in the installation and update of production software needed for operations

  • Coordinate with technical team from other offices to troubleshoot equipment and network issues

  • Act as escalation point for production workers on all issues including supply, computer, equipment, staffing issues, and anything related to production

  • Work with and monitor work teams to ensure that required production procedures and product recipes are followed and to correct & rectify production floor issues

  • Anticipate possible problems, troubleshoot people, materials, and equipment to avoid unplanned down time and production delays

  • Oversee or conduct training for new and existing workers in specific duties, machine operations, quality performance and safety procedures (e.g. GMP, Food Safety)

  • Monitor, train, cross train, coach, and mentor workers

  • Demonstrate and instil positive culture and morale among work teams

  • Support Operations Director in assessing workers’ capabilities

  • Create production reports to monitor key performance indicators e.g. error rates, productivity and efficiency rates

  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
