Position Summary


Royal Child Care is seeking a highly motivated Early Childhood Educator (E.C.E.).  This role requires the development and implementation of child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.  It requires providing the children with opportunities to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity as well as observing and guiding the development of behaviours and habits.


 


Job Detail


Job Title: Early Childcare educator (E.C.E)


Positions Available: 2


Salary: $18.00 - $20.00 Per hour (to be negotiated) for 30-40 hours per week


Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time


Language: English


Start Date of Employment: As Soon As Possible


Vacation: 4% of gross salary in lieu of vacation time


Work Location: New Westminster


Employment conditions: Must be available for morning and afternoon shifts


Education: College/CEGEP, Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate


Security: We require a criminal record check, medical exam, and tuberculosis test


Experience: A minimum of 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant work experience


Transportation/Travel: Must have own transportation and a valid drivers license, Relocation costs covered by the employer


 


Job Description



  • Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children

  • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest

  • Provide the children with opportunities to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity

  • Guide and assist children with the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits

  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems

  • Knowledge of licensing regulations

  • Establish guidelines for behaviour and assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children with parents/guardians and other staff members

  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children

  • Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records and ordering supplies and equipment

  • Attend staff meetings, plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours


Job Skills



  • Ability to supervise 3-4 people

  • Experience with special needs children – children with behavioural issues, allergies, ADHD, or ADD

  • Excellent oral communication

  • Values and ethics, along with judgement
