Job Summary

We are a growing Transportation company seeking an experienced General Transportation Manager to execute, direct and oversee the transportation operations of our company. We require someone with a good background who has extensive experience as a supervisor and operator in particular transport modes. Our ideal candidate has strong leadership, multitasking and negotiating skills.

 

Job Title: General Transportation Manager

Job Description and Duties:

  • Establish and implement policies and standards for the transportation and storage of goods
  • Organize, direct, manage and evaluate the operations of our transportation company
  • Control our departmental budget while also monitoring and evaluating rates and revenue
  • Ensures that staff is effectively managing day to day delivery activities, including but not limited to adherence to all company policies, adherence to planned routes, and providing safe and efficient customer service.
  • Overview the dispatch, maintenance and service of all vehicles
  • Monitor company activities, prepare reports and plan for changes to schedules and policies
  • Maintains on-going interaction and keep open communication channels with staff by answering questions and explaining policies and procedures while also monitoring associate morale and submits and respond to ideas to improve associate engagement and enablement
  • Set performance goals and set operations policies and standards that help determine the safety procedures for the handling of dangerous goods, and ensures compliance with transport regulations
  • Recruit personnel and oversee the staff training for them


Terms of Employment:
 Permanent, Full Time, Long Term


Hours of Work: 
40 hours per week

 

Wages:  $50.00 per hour

 

Overtime: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations

 

 

Benefits Package:

  • Insurance from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board covered by employer
  • Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis

Anticipated Start Date of Employment:  As soon as possible

Education, Experience and Language Requirements:

  • Completion of Secondary School is required
  • A Bachelors’ Degree in Business Administration is an asset but not a condition of employment
  • Five or more years of related experience as a supervisor and operator in road transport operations which may substitute for formal education
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
