Education:                                           Completion of secondary education required
Experience:                                        1-2 years of work experience as a cabinetmaker

 

Job Duties:

• Always follow established safety rules and regulations, use proper protective safety gear, and maintain a clean and safe work area
• Study project specifications (blueprints, sketches, plans, etc.)
• Understand, Plan and Implement the Requirements including any and all special notes and symbols
• Set-up and operate a variety of woodworking machines such as power saws, jointers, mortisers, tenoners, molders, and shapers
• Mark outlines/dimensions according to specifications
• Cut, trim and/or shape joints to ensure snug fit – use hand tools such as planes, chisels, or wood files
• Bore holes for screws/dowels
• Glue, fit and clamp parts and subassemblies together to form complete units using clamps or clamping machines
• Sand/scrape surfaces and joints of assemblies/subassemblies in order to prepare them for finishing
• May require use of stains, varnishes, or paints involved in finishing the product/assembly
• Be able to inspect equipment and materials in order to identify potential problems or defects
