Job Summary:

The Farm Supervisor is responsible for overseeing, assigning and coordinating all aspects of the everyday operation of the farm and its workers. This position requires a person that is organized and has good working knowledge of farm operations with the ability to plan and direct diversified farm activities, to supervise groups of farm workers in farm activities. While also directing employees in varied farm operations such as harvesting, planting, and others as required. We are looking for a candidate that will assume this responsibility with great dedication, given that the success of our farm and the products we produce will rely solely on their capability to manage our team of hard-working individuals.

Job Description and Duties:

  • Supervise the completion of daily tasks by farm workers and harvesting labourers, as well as coordinating and assigning said tasks.
  • Developing, enforcing and evaluating procedures that maintain crop health and welfare.
  • Oversee and supervise growing and other crop-related operations such as harvest, weeding, transplanting, plowing and preparing products for market.
  • Maintain financial and operational records
  • Participate in the provision of services or in the operation of machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure that farming tools, materials, machinery and equipment are maintained and in working order
  • Responsible for hiring, training and scheduling of farm workers.
  • Secure farm safety, food safety and security and bio-security procedures are always followed.
  • Maintain and ensure quality control and production records
  • Maintain financial and operational records
  • May perform general farm duties as required including plowing, irrigation, harvesting etc.

 

Terms of Employment: Permanent Full Time, Long Term

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week

Wages:  $23.00

 

Benefits Package:

  • Insurance from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board covered by employer
  • Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis

Anticipated Start Date of Employment:  As soon as possible


Education, Experience and Language Requirements:

  • No formal education requirements
  • 3 years of farm experience
  • Basic English communication skills

 

Type of Crops:  Vegetables, Fruits and Field crops

 

Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

  • Repetitive tasks
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye co-ordination
  • Combination of sitting, standing, walking, kneeling and bending
  • Standing for extended periods
  • Strength and agility are necessary for lifting heavy loads
  • Outdoors, Wet/Damp, Dusty, Rain/Shine, Hot/Cold Weather

 

Additional Skills and Other Requirements:

  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Must be a team player, flexible, reliable and organized
  • Must be available for all hours of operations and shifts including overtime and weekend work as required
