Zantingh Direct Inc. requires full time permanent Hog Farm Workers to assist in our daily operations. As a Hog Farm Worker, the successful applicant’s duties will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

 

  • Operating and maintaining farm machinery and equipment;
  • Maintaining and assisting in the maintenance of facilities and farm infrastructure including cleaning stables, barns, barnyards and pens;
  • Weighing hogs in-and-out of the barn facilities;
  • Unloading and loading hogs to-and-from semi-truck trailers;
  • Following food safety and security and animal bio-security procedures to ensure regulatory and legal requirements;
  • Detecting disease and health problems in hogs;
  • Inputting hog data into computer systems and database including details such as the weight of the hog.


In seeking the most qualified individuals for the role, the successful applicant will possess the following job requirements:

 

  • Completion of secondary school is required;
    • Relevant education related to farming or livestock will be considered an asset;
  • Basic farm knowledge obtained from working on a family farm is required;
  • A minimum of one (1) year of previous work experience in hog and sow farming is required;
  • Willingness to work in and outdoor and in a barn environment;
    • The work environment can be noisy, dusty, and have odour;
  • The position requires oral communication of English language as well as reading English text and numeracy.

 

The wage for this position will start at CAD $17.00/hour for 35-45 hours of work per week. Benefits will medical insurance and vacation pay in lieu of vacation days. Off-site living accommodations will be offered.
