  • Job duties:

 

-          Prepare table in crew dining room and makes sure the whole mess room is clean and tidy before and after the meals.

-          Takes part in loading of provisions.

-          Ensures dishwashing.

-          Cleans the provisions room, refrigerator, chiller, and other food cabinets.

-          Dispatch all garbage according to the vessel’s garbage management plan and Marpol regulations.

-          Is fully aware of the QHSE system implemented on board.

-          Is fully involved in her or his safety duties and role and participate actively in the safety drills and exercises.

 

  • Terms of employment: This up to 4-month contract is on-board a cable laying vessel and will take place in both the international and Canadian waters. You will be picked up in St-John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. The work will take place in the great north, primarily within the Canadian waters located above the Nunavik region of Quebec.

 

  •  Language of work:  Basic understanding of English speaking maritime terminology is required

 

  • Wage: $14/hour for average working weeks of 40 to 48 hours based on need.

 

  • Location(s) of work: This up to 4-month contract is on-board a cable laying vessel and will take place in both the international and Canadian waters.   • Skills requirements:

 

  • Certification as a messman or a related field is required.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a related position on an ocean cruise ship a cable laying vessel.
  • Must have completed the following certifications:
    • Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats. 
    • Food hygiene and safety
    • Ship security awareness
    • Ability to be on a work rotation (day, evening, and night shift, as necessary).
    • Capability to multi-task in a fast past environment.
    • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
    • Complete criminal background check.
