TIGON SECURITY SOLUTIONS LTD. is a local security systems and communication technology company serving both residential and commercial clients in Metro Vancouver, the GVRD and throughout the lower mainland and is looking for a Network Technician to join their team located in Surrey.

Position: Network Technician

Terms of employment: Permanent / Full Time

Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary: $29.15/ hour for 36 hours per week

Language: English
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year or equivalent experience

Location: unit: 17, 12468 82 Avenue, Surrey, BC, V3W 3E9

 

Network Technician (NOC 22220) will have to perform all of these duties:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and administer local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), mainframe networks, computer workstations, connections to the Internet and peripheral equipment
  • Evaluate and install computer hardware, networking software, operating system software and software applications
  • Implement network traffic and security monitoring software, and optimize server performance
  • Provide problem-solving services to network users
  • Review and assesses client network infrastructure in LAN and WAN environments including network mapping, switch, router, and Firewall troubleshooting
  • WIFI configuration, troubleshooting and general wireless network support
  • Work directly with our customers on site or remotely to troubleshoot and diagnose network connectivity, Windows PC, MAC and server issues
  • Travelling to clients location where onsite support is requested or required
  • Perform routine network start up and close down and maintain control records
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
  • Conduct tests and perform security and quality controls

Required Skills / Knowledge:

  • Ability to work with a variety of customers and vendors (some technical some non-technical)
  • Detail oriented and a methodical problem solver. Able to think outside the box
  • Works well individually and within a team environment
  • Positive and professional attitude, good work ethic
  • Good in assessing conditions through examination or diagnostic testing to determine appropriate treatments.
  • Must have the knowledge of Linux, Unix, Networking software, Networking hardware, Networking security, Intranet, Servers, File management software, Security software, MS Office, Spreadsheet
