The plant is located in the Albion Industrial area of Maple Ridge. Fraser Plastics processes post-consumer and post-industrial plastic, and sell plastic pellets, washed/regrind flakes and baled plastic. We are currently looking for two enthusiastic and efficient Welders to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for two skilled welders to cut and join metals and other materials at our facilities. The candidate will operate appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision efficacy.

A welder must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will also have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Their role also involves conducting assessments to determine appropriate welding methods and equipment.

Job Description and Duties:

  • Weld small and large components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Use specialized machinery for industrial welding.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layouts.
  • Maintain and repair all machinery.
  • Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors.
  • Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature.
  • Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
  • Operate brazing and soldering equipment
  • Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines
  • Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers.


Terms of Employment: Permanent Full Time, Long Term

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week 

Wages:  $28.00 per hour 

Overtime: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations 

Benefits Package: 

  • Insurance from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board covered by employer
  • Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis

Anticipated Start Date of Employment:  As soon as possible

Education, Experience and Language Requirements:

  • Completion of Secondary School is an asset
  • At least 2 years of related experience
  • Able to communicate in English

Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities: 

  • Fast-paced environment, attention to detail, manual dexterity and
    hand-eye coordination
  • Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching and kneeling
  • Strength and agility are necessary for lifting and climbing
